E-book list
My family owns the Robinson Curriculum. Which I cannot stress enough is hands-down the best home school program you could ever purchase and use.
With six children, printing and binding paper copies of the books was never an option. We needed a way to get the material onto our kid's E-readers. I used the RC CDs to "print-to-pdf" and load up the material that way. The gigantic problem was the sheer size of the "books". Your standard Kindle or Nook E-reader only has 2GB of storage space, which meant you could only ever have less than 25% of all the materials loaded up at any one time, and that did not include the Henty novels.
I am a "set it and forget it" kinda guy. I wanted all the material loaded up on everyone's E-reader all at the same time. Fast forward 3 weeks and approx. 40 hours of my time and I am proud to present to you the following optimized for E-reader books that use less than 10% of your E-reader's storage space!
Couple of important notes:
- The Course of Study from the Robinson Curriculum is NOT included. This is not meant to circumvent the purchase of the Robinson Curriculum. This is meant to be a supplement to those who have purchased the Curriculum and want the books in an easier format to manage for E-Readers.
- The RC CDs were not used in creating any of these books.
- There are 11 books on the CDs that did not make it into my list (copyright issue or just doesn't exist outside of the RC CDs), that list is at the bottom of page.
- ALL of these books are public domain, which means they are freely available elsewhere. Let me stress that again, all of these books are FREE elsewhere! All you need to do is track them down, and convert them into whichever format you prefer.
- I am not selling you the books. You are paying me for my time in gathering them all in one place and optimizing them for E-readers. You are not allowed to distribute my files outside of your immediate family.
- Do not use these files to print out hard copy. They do not translate well onto paper, and the RC CDs do a much much better job. If you are going to print, use your CDs!
- If you haven't looked into the Robinson Curriculum for home-schooling, you really should.
- But wait! There aren't that many books on the CDs. I know, we added a bunch! We expanded on the Tom Swift series, added The Wonder Island Boys series for the boys (male heroes). We also added 11 Ruth Fielding books (female hero). We also added more Dotty Dimple and other female hero books. We have three girls, they weren't too happy with all "boy" books.
